BLOCK 2 - INDEPENDENT LIVING
Independent Living is an 18-week course in the Family and Consumer Sciences Curriculum.
This course provides the opportunity to study survival skills to help students live successfully
on their own. Through the use of the textbooks, classroom activities and projects,
students will learn how to build a foundation for life.
They will explore these various skills for lifetime success throughout the course.
- Learning skills (learn financial planning, nutrition, healthy lifestyles and time management skills.)
- Thinking Skills (Develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.)
- Communication Skills (Develop positive personal and career relationship skills.)
- Technology Skills (Use computers, GPS devices, and food prep equipment)
- Interpersonal Skills (Learn to work effectively with others in a group)
